Sue Ellen has been a long time advocate for children and families through her volunteer work in CASA, Caritas of Austin, Welcoming the Stranger and as a board member of Friends of Burnham Library and Arts from the Heart.  She owned and operated a fiber arts studio on her ranch in TX.

Additionally, Sue Ellen volunteered with Austin's Foundation Communities whose mission is to create housing where families succeed; and to provide people with an affordable, attractive place to call home.

"Home" took on the added meaning "where the heart is"  in my life as I moved 6 times in my childhood and then 9 times in my adulthood.  My definition  of home was further defined through my volunteer work ---- that home is also where there is the security of knowing you have a roof over your head and the assurity that roof will be there tomorrow in a stable, supportive community.  It is an honor to be on the board of the KHHT to keep Kennebunkport the safe harbor for families young and old."
